Key Findings — 2026 Edition

Three things the data reveals.

0.61
The Summit Gap

The drop from #2 to #3 is the largest single step in the fifty — more than three times the average step across the rest of the table. Covenant and Afe Babalola stand apart from the field.

1.13
Challenger Spread

The fifteen Challengers span 1.13 points — an average step of 0.08 a place. Inside that band, a single corrected input can reorder neighbours. Positions are read as a group in motion.

5 of 10
Church-Founded Vanguard

Five of the top ten universities are church-founded, holding on outcomes and governance — not on brand or legacy alone.

01 — The Framework

Eleven pillars. Four families. One score.

Every input is external and verifiable. No ranked institution supplies its own data. The Ivory Score (0–10) can be recomputed by any reader from the published weights. Research and standing are carried by public, verifiable data; remaining dimensions are set by calibrated judgement anchored to verifiable signals.

Confidence flags: Every institution carries a confidence flag — High through the leading group, Medium in the middle, and Indicative in the tail where the tier matters more than the exact position. The trajectory flag sits outside the composite and is never used to reorder the table.

Who It Serves

A ranking earns its place by improving decisions.

Students & Families

Choosing where to study.

  • The tiers turn 168 options into a defensible shortlist
  • Safety, teaching and employability pillars show daily life behind the prospectus
  • The confidence flag signals where a result rests on thinner data
Employers & Graduate Recruiters

Hiring at scale, with limited interview bandwidth.

  • Tier tells you the quality band at a glance
  • Employability pillar isolates graduate-outcome evidence
  • Alumni & Influence shows where networks land in practice
Institutions & Policymakers

Setting standards and allocating resources.

  • Pillar weights are published — every input is traceable
  • Right of reply is open to every institution, ranked or not
  • Annual cadence tracks change, not just standing
Reading the Quadrant

Where a university stands, and where it is heading.

The table records where a university stands. The quadrant shows where it is heading, and how much noise it makes on the way. Standing runs left to right — the eleven-pillar composite, the same number that fixes the rank. Trajectory runs bottom to top — an eighteen-month reading of directional momentum.

The trajectory flag is Indicative — it sits outside the composite and must never be used to reorder the table. It is informational: a signal about direction, not a verdict on standing.

About

One question. External evidence. No self-reporting.

The Ivory League ranks the fifty leading private universities in Nigeria on eleven pillars spanning research, teaching, employability, safety and governance. Every input is external and verifiable. No ranked institution supplies its own data. The composite score can be recomputed by any reader from the published weights.

Corrections are entered in a public corrections log with date, institution, what changed and the source. Right of reply is open to every institution, ranked or not.
